Sunrise
I look behind me and see a shadow twenty feet long
As the sun rises, the shadow becomes smaller and smaller
While it comes up from behind the mountains in the east
I feel the shadow self become smaller as well
The red, dark twilight is dispelled by the white, morning light
And the warmth flows through me and into the rest of the day
My strength and focus are sharpened to where anything is possible
The fatigue and tiredness of yesterday are all but gone
I do have to go finish the days work,
But leaving that feeling is too hard to do
I watch a while longer while the light embraces everything around
And then I realize, to myself, the only reason it's shining...
is for me.
