He mustered out in June of 1863. His Company were at the following engagements : 1st Bull Run , Yorktown , Hanover Court House , Gaines Mill , Malvern Hill (all in Virginia) , These last four known as the "Penisular Campaign" 2nd Bull Run , Antietam , Fredricksburg , Chancellorville . Notes for William Lester Hobbs: William and his family removed to Millinocket , Maine in early 1900s , he was a licensed Maine guide and had a "Sports Camp" , owned a garage that became the 1st "Ford" dealership in Maine. Anna did the cooking for the camp and had a candy kitchen. They also ran a " lunch wagon " or restraunt. Notes for Iola Hobbs: Iola was a librarian for many years in Millinocket, Maine.

Notes for Alwin Newton: They were married in Athol, MA in 1931, lived in Lynn while Alwin got his Masters in Engineering at MIT, then went to York where he worked for York Corp. They moved to Minneapolis (~1938) where Alwin worked for Honeywell. During WWII he did some work with Walt Disney producing training films for servicemen. Also worked on the Norden Bombsight – in fact, when he died, there was one found amongst his possessions. It was sent to the Smithsonian. Iola and Alwin lived in Lynn, Massachusetts; York, Pennsylvania, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Dayton, Ohio; Jackson, Michigan; and Wichita Kansas before removing to Penn. Notes for Lester Malcolm Hobbs: Lester worked as a short order cook in the family restraunt in his youth.

In 1936 Lester & Dorris lived at 214 Elm St., North Easton, Mass. Lester was working for E. E. Taylor Corp., 70 Bellevue Ave., Brockton, Mass. This is on his Social Security card application.

Lester M. Hobbs, 68 husband of the late Doris Evelyn Hobbs, was found dead in his trailer at Shady Acres Trailer Park, Raynham, Mass. on Tuesday evening. Born in Milo, Maine, son of William and Anna Hobbs. He had made his home in Raynham since 1952, and was employed as a shoe worker for Bridgewater Cooperative Shoe Company. He is survied by one son, Lester M. Hobbs of N. Easton, Mass ; four grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Alwin (Iola) Newton of York, Penn.

Mrs. Dorris (Horton) Hobbs of Shady Acres, Raynham, died this morning in Morton Hospital after a short illness. She was 62. Born in Brockton, daughter of the late Charles and Flora (Washburn) Hortn, she has lived in Raynham for the past ten years since moving there from Easton. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Lester of North Easton : two brothers, Lewellyn of Easton and alfred; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Anderson of Portsmouth, RI, Mrs. Barbara Smith of East Bridgewater and Mrs. Arlene McAloney of Hayward, Calif. and by three grandchildren.

Notes for Lester Milton Hobbs: Lester spent his summers in East Millinocket , Maine with his grandparents , he worked around the garage washing cars and pumping gas. He said on Sundays when the garage was closed they would go to their place on Lake Mattamiscontis which is south of East Millinocket.

Brockton Enterprise , Brockton, Mass. , Thursday February 25, 1965 ; A rather long story about the auto accident that took the life of Hope Lillian (Harding) Hobbs .. Excerpt : Mrs. Hope L. Hobbs, 38 ~ Mrs. Hobbs was the wife of Lester M. Hobbs. Born in Raynham, she was the daughter of the late George and Nellie (Hopkins) Harding. She had resided in Easton for nine years. She was employed at Quality Steel Products Co. in Stoughton. She was a member of the Centeral Methodist Church, North Easton, and Easter Chapter, No. 164, OES, and the Rainbow Mothers Club. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son William; two daughters Sandra and Natalie, all at home; a brother Walter Harding of Brockton and four sisters, Mrs. Edith Melville , Mrs. Irene Fulginiti , Mrs. Florence Nordin and Mrs. Ruth Tringali. The funeral will be from Copeland Funeral Home, 38 Center St., North Easton at 1 P.M. Saturday with Rev. Samuel A. Walker officiating. Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
