Peanut Butter

“There, that’s the last of them.” Willow proclaimed happily, turning around to celebrate their privacy again. “Spike?” She asked when she could not see him anywhere. “Spike?”
“Mmm?” He mumbled, walking into the room with a finger in his mouth. “Good, they’re gone.” Sitting down on the bed, he stuck his finger back in his mouth, sucking on it slightly before setting it down on the bed.
Willow smiled at his odd behavior. “What are you doing?” She asked, trying hard not to laugh.
“Well, I could be regressing back to a childhood stage…” he said, putting his hands behind his back. “I could have an oral fixation…”
“That one’s true.” Willow teased, and his grin widened. “Or, it could be this peanut butter.” He held out a jar of peanut butter, a shade darker than Willow was used to.
“That’s not peanut butter.” She said with a frown. He smiled again.
“It’s chocolate fudge peanut butter.” He ran his finger along the top of the peanut butter, then licked it off teasingly.
“Mmm… I like that idea.” When Spike put his finger back in the jar, she pulled it out and folded her lips around his finger, running her tongue around it and sucking the peanut butter off. He shivered slightly as she pulled back, releasing his finger from her mouth. “Mmm.” Her lips drew back into a smile, and Spike pounced. He grabbed her and threw her on to the mattress, making Willow squeal with surprise. He attacked her receptive lips with his own, tasting the peanut butter in her mouth. When Willow broke off the kiss to breathe, he smiled at her as she breathed heavily. “I… I love you, Spike.” She whispered, and he paused his efforts to undress her, struck mute with disbelief. Then her pale hand reached up to touch his face, and he was entranced by her body and the marvelous things they could do with it.

Later, as she lay in his arms, he brushed away the tears his eyes held, trying to hide them from Willow. It was a sign of weakness, and one he was not ready to show to her.
“S…spike? What’s wrong?” She asked him sleepily, and he swore to himself.
“Nothing.”
”You miss them?” He began to shake his head no, then reluctantly nodded. “I’m sorry, Spike.” She said softly, reaching for his hand comfortingly.
“I…” he tried to speak and found no words. She nodded, and closed her eyes, falling back asleep quickly. “I love you, Willow.” He murmured.
In her sleep, Willow smiled.
