1) UFORC thanks CAUS and Barry Taylor (*snip*) for this report: I am a UFO Researcher (Australia). Last year (1998) between April and October, I witnessed, photographed and video'd many UFOs in my area.  And I saw many Rods. While looking out my bedroom window, I saw the largest Rod ever. At arms length it was 2ft long, 8in. high. It appeared to be 150ft. away. It was going away from my viewing point, so got a good look at it. It came in from my left, heading down Into the ground (or houses) it disappeared. Seen many approach me to fly overhead and various angles either side. Also, many that approached from behind giving me a better look at them as they flew away. A couple of times I was able to turn my head around quick enough to see them continue in their straight flight path. This proving to me "that they were really there, and I was not imagining them." I have never seen, or heard of rods prior to 1998. I was unable to get one on video, I think! While videoing a "strobe light" one evening, with the camera on a tripod, and infrared night vision on, a couple of times something passed by the field of view that illuminated and reacted with the infrared recording. It appears as an illumination passing from right to left. (green because of infrared). The camera was on full zoom, so the illumination must have been fairly low due to its width. This may have been a passing rod. Another rod sighted was "U" shaped. Like when you hung a neck chain. It was moving in a downward flight path, and the "U" flying upright as seen printed, going away from view. This one appeared about 1.5ft. high. The rods seem to be of various lengths and fly at various heights. Their speed is very fast. While on speed, I have given this some thought. Consider this. They may be able to control their speed in a direct relationship to their height above ground. The higher they are, the faster they go. This could be for a well calculated reason. A study on the human eye reaction time may be the key. It is a fine line between seeing something and knowing that you saw it, and seeing something and thinking it is in your imagination. This seems to be how they work. Their fast speed may be calculated by learning how fast the human mind transfers and calculates information from the eye to either establish reality or imagination. Description: They are likened to the beam from a torch shone into the night sky where the dust particles illuminate, making the beam. Cut off a section of beam flat either end. Lay it on its side and imagine it flying through the air sideway s.  Two types: Black and white.  The white Rods are described above. The black ones are different. These travel at the same speed, directions and manner but are different. The black ones (I call Gargoyles) are slightly bent, like an almost straight boomerang. I had one approach me one night head on at low altitude. I got a sudden "adrenaline rush" thinking is was going to hit me. Proof to me that It was really there. Another black one approached low over the roof of the house next door, between two trees on our boundary fence and gained altitude as it sped off. I noticed on this one some slight dim illuminations. They were yellow in colour, with several along its front edge. This one about 5-6 ft long, and narrow. (like most of them, but not all) Another one low and close had about 12 very small individual dull "lights" spread out along its front edge. This one about 4ft long. I also observed a Rod that looked like a "swimming eel." It was about 6 times longer than high. The vertical banded illuminations were moving to the back of the object. Similar to the moving lights seen outside night clubs, as they switch on and off and appear to move around. I have seen numerous black Rods block out the stars while observing the night sky. Rod activity was high during high UFO activity in my area (especially June/July '98) until the end of October. UFO activity has ceased, and very rare Rod activity seen now. 2.)UFORC thanks CAUS and Jim West (*snip) for his report: What I saw with Cheryl Ann Doliboa on August the 11th 1985 was out of the world! We were sitting in our backyard in Yuma Arizona at about 11pm. Our daughter Danielle was just inside the back door with her heart monitor outside with us so that we could monitor her breathing and heartbeat. It was the first time we sat outside together since our daughter was born two months earlier on June 11th. Suddenly directly in front of us appeared a translucent object twenty-five feet from us and about twenty-five feet in the air. We were both more than amazed! What we were seeing looked like the ghost of a magic carpet. It was moving forward through the air at about 10 mph, in an undulating manner. My first impression of this inexplicable flying object was that it was moving like a sea creature through the air. As it passed before us and barely cleared the roof of our house, I could see that inside this shockingly mysterious thing were what appeared to be four metallic spheres about 18 inches in diameter. Three of them were in a perfectly straight row and one of them was off to the left side and a little behind the first sphere. It was about20 feet long and 7 or 8 feet wide. I just sat there stunned as Cheryl Ann ran into the middle of the yard and got on her tiptoes so that she could try to see this flying aberration for as long as it was in sight. “Did you see that?” she shouted. “What the hell was that?” she exclaimed as she walked back over to sit down next to me. I didn't know what to say. I had no answer for what it was. We both soon went in the house to draw pictures of what we saw. The pictures were identical. Whatever it was, we perceived it in the same way with only one slight difference. I saw the spheres as metallic and she saw the spheres as slightly glowing or emitting a low intensity of light. Three spheres in a row 18 inches in diameter and one off to the left side. Four metallic looking spheres which remained relative to each other and were about 12 inches in separation from each other. So while the Rod undulated the e spheres remained in line and relative which is a concept that is even hard for me to visualize now even though I saw it for myself. UFORC CASE No. CAUS#JULY1599A002
