WHAT IS ROLEPLAYING?
"This term is a frightening one for some people, but really, we’ve all been doing it since we were children. With every game of Cops & Robbers, or imagined we could fly, we were roleplaying. We slipped between personae until we were told it was "silly" and "childish", and so we stopped adopting these roles, and let roleplaying recede with the memories of childhood. Of course Roleplaying games need more rules than the playground did - "Got you!" "Did not!". All the written rules do is set up parameters of the story, allowing the Storyteller to determine what each player is and isn’t capable of. The rules do not dictate or restrict their actions".
