This poem was written for Ian, a very interesting person I just recently met. First time I've ever written a poem about somebody else, and I wasn't a part of it. May he grow spiritually, and his nights be forever lightened by the moon.

The Shadow Vampire

A darkness sets across the land,
The shadowed woods lay close at hand.
The creatures come forth from their daily rest
and you wake up full and refreshed.

The shadows deep are your domain
the creatures silent, from you remain
your feet they travel sure and true
your silent path you do pursue.

The moon she rises to lighten things
you, you hear her as she sings
the shadows creep and crawl about
energies shift and nearly shout.

“Come,” you call into the night
“come to me, I'll ease your fright
For never fear what conspires
in these woods, my sole desires.”

“Of you, my moon, to you I cherish
without you there, I would perish
For while the night is unto me,
your light, it gives for me to see”

And hands raise up in loving homage
to the moon, past the foliage
for night and day, reflected are
in her light, the perfect star.

“Night it comes, but do not fear,
for you my love, I am always near.”

These poems I share so that others may enjoy them. Whether they are only read and analyzed as words or they are felt in the soul is all up to the reader.
