Yes we've all heard rumors... but had to wonder whether ther were true or not! STARZ! is going to now attempt to set everything straight, right from the boys' mouths
Rumor #1: There are some Backstreet Girls (i.e., the Boyshave got some Girls)
And The Truth: NOOOOOO! This is abslutely FALSE! (Yes you may breath now!) What is true is most of the guys have had pretty serious relationships, but they all have broken up. AJ had a girlfriend (she can be seen in the as long as you love me video) from 1994-1996. They had to break up because the Backstreet Boys were always touring in Europe; there was no time for them to see each other! AJ says "I was depressed for weeks, nobody could get near me." (how sad!) Kevin also admits to being engaged at the age of 19! He went out with a girl for a year and then they realized that they had nothing in common! (Lucky break for all the "Train" fans out there!) Brian told us about a girl in high school with whom he was infatuated. Unfortunately, he based his attractionon looks and whenhe finally went out with her, he realized she was mean! (none of you would do this right?) Howie doesn't give details on past loves, but we do know he irons his pajama's!!! Nick is the only one who hasn't been in a serious relationship yet... probably because he joined the group when he was 12! (Well, whenever you're ready, Nick, there's plenty waiting....)
Rumor #2: The backstreet Boys are only attracted to a girl's appearance, so they'll only date glamorous stars.
Truth: DEFINITELY...NOT! The guys, although they admit ti a few preferences, such as Nick likes long hair, AJ likes nice eyes and long fingernails, ect. (that's not to say they don't like girls who don't have those attributes), really only care about people on the inside. That goes for all people in general, be it girls or guys. The BSB agree that they like a good, strong personality, a sense of humor, confidence, intelligence and sincerity. And about the dating fans part, yes, they all say they would date a fan, if they had the time! AJ has even gone so far as to call his fans -- whenever they leave phone numbers in their letters, he like to call and see how they are doing, but he says that most of the time, they don't believe him and hang up the phone! (See what you missed out on!) They love their fans 'cuz they are the ones hwho brought the BSB to the top!
Rumor #3: The Backstreet Boys are firm believers that smoking, drinking and doing drugs are SOOO totally NOT cool and extremely unattractive.
Truth: This is actually VERY true! AJ, B-Rok, Howie, Kevin and Nick are totally turned off when they see girls -- or anybody, for that matter -- doing this kind of stuff. In Fact, at the American Music Awards, where they presented an award, one could see all the BSB sporting red ribbons for drug awareness. (see photos in STARZ! issue number 10.) They also are ambassadors (meaning they travel to schools and warn the students about the dangers of drug and alcohol) for anti-drug/alcohol programs. Nick says enough whenhe stresses, "I hate girls who smoke..."
Rumor #4: None of the Backstreet Boys had kissed or had been kissed until they were teenagers!
Truth: NOT!!! They guys understandably, had many admirers and were all willing to share their "first kiss experiences." AJ said that when he was four, he went over and kissed his next door neighbour's daughter. than ran home worried about "girl cooties." Nick was eight and in the third grade when the moment came. He was in a play with a girl and well... well, we don't want to get too graphic here... just use your imagination! Kevin kissed a girl whom he went to school with and described as very pretty. B-Rok likes to go for the "older women;" in third grade he kissed a girl that was years older than him@ Howie had the most interesting story. He was twelve years old and playing spin the bottle at a party; now, we don't want to get into too much detail, but the bottom line is, he ended up getting kissed by "the three best-looking girls in school!"
