Stang Modification Page


My mods page is mostly a list of what I've done to my stang. I'll start posting 1/4 mile ET's between mods if I get a chance to go to the track between them. New pictures are coming as soon as I get my scanner online.

2/01/98 - Performed basics, See TECH SECTION for details. Then installed K&N Panel filter, 2.25" 2-chamber Flowmasters on the original pipes, T-Handle Hurst shifter knob. I threw the T-handle away after about a week, the shifter threads kill your fingers.

3/25/98 - B&M Ripper and SVO 3.73 gears arrive in the mail. Ripper is fully installed an hour later. Still pondering if I'm going to install the gears myself.

3/26/98 - Ran 15.95 @ 88.41mph. See DRAG RACING for details.

3/30/98 - Finally got the nuts up to change the gears myself. Six hours and alot of cussing later, they're in. Gas milage sucks but off the line it's really damn fast. One down side(besides 5mpg worse milage), my speedometer is 30% off, need to fix that since I'm racking up miles really fast.

4/20/98 - Vortec 73mm mass air meter. One restriction down, many more to go. This thing works really nice, you notice a slight difference on the top end. See TECH SECTION for details.

5/28/98 - Ran 15.10 @ 90.32mph. See DRAG RACING for details.

5/30/98 - Put on MAC 1 5/8" equal length headers and a Bassani 2.5" X-pipe with high flow cats. Huge fuckin difference in power. Cut over .2 seconds off my 1/4 mile times, might of been more but I was having severe traction problems. The best thing is I have the wildest sounding Mustang in town, every 5.0 guy I see asks me what kind of exhaust I have(note: this gets annoying quick). Look for upcoming tech article.

6/11/98 - Ran 14.89 @ 90.59mph. See DRAG RACING for details.

6/16/98 - Crane 1.7 "Cobra" roller rockers went in. Easy to do, slight gain in horses, .2 seconds off 1/4 mile times. Worth the money.

6/18/98 - Ran 14.72 @ 93.22mph. See DRAG RACING for details.

7/01/98 - Tinted the windows with 3M metallic HP Panther tint, 50% front, 35% rear(Utah law). Much cooler inside and looks nice.

7/22/98 - Yanked the 5.0 badges off and replaced them with Cobra badges from a 94 Mustang Cobra.

8/15/98 - ASP underdrive pulleys, nice little kick in the ass. This is something no max-boogie stang should be without!

9/10/98 - Cobra intake. Just opening the box gave me a chubby. This thing not only looks bad ass, it performs.

9/17/98 - Ran 14.48 @ 94.88mph. See DRAG RACING for details.

9/19/98 - MSD 8.5 superconductor wires. Had to replace the stock wires after my Mac Equals burned through one of them. Bent them to a 45 angle and put ceramic sleeves on the boots to prevent them from frying again.

10/17/98 - SAAC LeMans stripes from Graphic Express. Looking lean and mean now. Everyone checks it out now, no more sleeper status.

11/04/98 - Swapped out the K&N panel filter for a K&N 9" cone filter. Can't tell a difference but I'm at high altitude.

01/27/99 - Stored in a top secret, highly classified location while I'm in Panama for a year. I could tell ya where it's at, but then I'd have to kill ya. While I'm away I have plenty of time to write tech articles and slam on crappy products.

11/01/99 - The Frog returns to the US!!!! It's winter here in Spokane, WA so I won't be racing but I saved a few bucks for parts.

11/10/99 - Put the right gear in the speedometer.

11/15/99 - A B-303 cam replaces the stock one. I've got some real mixed reviews on this little mod. Might of made a mistake on cam selection. Check for upcoming tech article/real world driving review.

11/15/99 - Installed an Edelbrock double roller timing chain while I was putting the cam in. All 5.0L engines come stock with a double roller chain for those of you who don't know(I didn't).

11/20/99 - Installed a chrome air tube between the throttle body and MAF. It's made by Tiny Avenger. Looks real nice, fit's excellent. No noticable power gains.

02/20/00 - 2.5" Edelbrock Performer RPM exhaust replaced my stock pipes with welded on 2.25" 2-chamber flowmasters. Hey, I can hear myself think now. Killer sound with the X-pipe and good power, not much difference power-wise from when I had the pipes cut off directly behind the flowmasters though (just quieter).

04/10/00 - Nitto NT450 245/50VR16 now sit on the rear pony wheels. Don't really seem to have fantastic grip. They look cool, that's about it. I really need to do something about those gay 215/60r16 on the front now.

05/04/00 - Installed 190-lph pump. A bit much, but I've solved my top end power loss. I'm still getting 20 mpg though, pretty good for a fast V-8.

05/05/00 - Ran 14.28 @ 99.35mph. See DRAG RACING for details.

5/30/00 - Installed a Crane PS-91 street coil. Fixed a small problem I've had with the idle.


I'll keep a running list of modifications and maybe some pictures of me installing them
