Cascade Chess Club News

In the September Portland Chess Club Tournament Cascade Chess Club players played well. Stephen Goree(3rd grader) won 3 out of the possible 4 games! Toby Walter(7th grader) also won 3 games. Jordan Ludwick(8thgrader) won 2 games. Brian Svehaug(5th grader) won 2.5 games. Micah Smith)5th grader) won 1.5 games.

 TWO CLUB MEMBERS WENT TO THE US OPEN!


 Andrew and Brian Svehaug went to Reno 
Nevada and played in the 5 day schedule of 100th 
US Open. There were over 25 Gms! The playing was 
intense. Out of Andrew's five games he collected 3.5 
points tied for second in the under 1600 section and 
won over $700! Brian got 2.5 points good enough to 
tie for second in the under 1200 section and to win 
over $500.
