Orange Belt Techniques
What follows are brief notes on the mechanics of each technique. These are by no means intended as an instructional manual, but rather as a suppliment for someone who is already familiar with the Sam Pai Kenpo techniques.
Thundering Hammer - Right punch
- Right foot back to reverse wide kneel, left inward parry as right hand chambers
- Shift to forward wide kneel, right inward horizontal forarm
- Start to step right foot, as left hand checks opponent's shoulder, plant forward, buckling leg as right hand vertical punches back of head
- Check and cross-out
Obstructing the Storm - Overhead (#12) club strike
- Left foot forward f/b and off axis of strike, overhead X block, right hand on top
- Right hand grabs wrist, shift n/b, left inside vertical forarm to elbow
- Shift f/b, left inward horizontal pressure rake w/ right knee to body
- Plant back and either check elbow and wrist as you cross-out, dragging opponent to ground, OR slide right hand to club, pull on club as you press down on elbow with left hand and cross-out
Gift in Return - Unfriendly handshake
- Regrab with both hands, left foot forward, between opponents legs, both hands thrust opponent's hand to his groin
- Slide right foot to left, as right hand continues to pin, left harm rising inner elbow to chin
- Left hammerfist to groin
- Left foot plants deep between opponent's legs buckling opponent
- Left obscure elbow to chin and down chest
- Check and cross-out (with optional scoop kick to groin)
