Orange Belt Techniques
What follows are brief notes on the mechanics of each technique. These are by no means intended as an instructional manual, but rather as a suppliment for someone who is already familiar with the Sam Pai Kenpo techniques.
Twin Kimono - Two hand lapel grab
- Left hand pins
- Step back left foot to n/b as right rising forarm strikes underside of elbows
- Short step left foot counter-clockwise as use right shoulder to draw opponent in
- Right back knuckle to right floating ribs
- Right hand circles down and around, clearing arms and possibly raking nose
- Right outward back knuckle to temple
- Check and cross-out
Defying the Storm - Right roundhouse (#1 or #3) club strike
- Step forward right foot, n/b, double inward block to wrist and bicep
- Left hand grabs wrist as right hand grabs shoulder, levering opponent over as you step back with right foot to f/b
- Right front knee strike to body, planting forward
- Right inward overhead elbow to spine (possibly sandwiching opponent between knee and elbow)
- Recover weapon and cross-out
Wings of Silk - Double armbar from behind
- Shift weight left, then right as first left arm down and right up, then reversing directions, right hand down, left hand up breaking hold, as left foot scoops groin, then stomps instep
- Right hand grabs groin
- Step right foot to 9:00
- Step left foot to 9:00 grabbing opponents hand and pinning to chest
- Right uppercut, breaking opponents arm with reverse elbow
- Right hand moves to elbow, as left hand checks hand
- Shove opponent away from you
- Check and cross-out
