Orange Belt Techniques
What follows are brief notes on the mechanics of each technique. These are by no means intended as an instructional manual, but rather as a suppliment for someone who is already familiar with the Sam Pai Kenpo techniques.
Hooking Crane - Left punch
- Step left foot back, n/b as left hand parries face and right hand delivers inward block
- Right hand cranes around wrist and pulls to right hip as left hand straight palm to face, f/b
- Shift n/b with right inward raking back-knuckle to bridge of nose
- Continue circling directly into elbow sandwich
- Check and cross-out
Darting Mace - Right to right wrist grab
- Re-grab with right hand, step forward left foot n/b, left vertical punch to face, as right hand pulls to hip
- Left hand grabs wristo f/b
- Right front knee strike to body, planting forward
- Right inward overhead elbow to spine (possibly sandwiching opponent between knee and elbow)
- Recover weapon and cross-out
Returning Storm - Backhand (#2 or #$) club strike
- Step left foot forward, n/b, double inward block to wrist and bicep
- Right hand grabs wrist, use left arm as fulcrom behind elbow
- Without stopping opponent's momentum, step left foot clockwise to 12:00, levering opponent down and around, as you plant forward bow
- Right front snap kick to face or body, plant back f/b
- Evaluate situation, shift n/b
- Recover weapon and cross-out
