Pictures from The GatheringThere was much speculation about 1999's Gathering of Eagles. Many felt that it would become a "Gathering of Egos". All who attended found that to be the furthest thing from the truth. It was truly a momentous event in the History of Kenpo and the Martial Arts in general. Those able to make the pilgrimage to this gathering will never forget it.

The late Sig Kufferath and Roy Kauffroath
Unfortunately, shortly after the Gathering of Eagles, the martial arts community lost another of it's great pioneers. Professor Sig Kufferath, truly he is now soaring among the Eagles, much as he did in life. Here he is pictured with my father, Roy Kauffroath. Note the similarity in names. Tracing our family lineage back a few generations revealed a family link to this great man. We shall miss him greatly. |
Sifu James Ibriao - A Trainer of Eagles
Meet Sifu James Ibriao. Sifu Ibriao was Mr. Parker's 1st Blackbelt and responsible for the care and feeding of many young Eagles, including my own instructor, Mr. Joe Dimmick. He hosted seminars showcasing the Kung-Fu influences on Kenpo and generally gave yours truly a hard time. Thanks Sifu, may I have some more abuse ? |
Darwin Jones
Although there are many people that contributed mightily to my Kenpo training, I believe that Mr Darwin Jones was the most instrumental. It is Darwin, that I sought to mimic, in both my fighting style and kata. This is one of the few photos I have of Darwin Jones and myself. This was taken in about 1977. |
