An Empire Beseiged

Everyone can take part in our new exciting campaign. Every month I will report on the current state of the campaign, and participants fight a battle to represent the struggle between good and evil in the Empire.

Round 3:

Storm Over the Reik

The second round was even more closely contested, with more battle reports than ever being sent (thanks!) and this time every race being represented. I have again rounded up the action for you, and have also named which races performed best.

Map of the Beseiged Empire

During Round 1 of the campaign, the armies of good had managed to defeat the evil landing parties, and now had their forces trapped. With no way to escape, the army of evil knew it had to fight to the death. Showing no mercy, the onslaught of the Empire continued, defeating Undead, Dark Elves and Daemons, but meanwhile the Empires allies were not faring so well. Although some smaller battles went the way of evil, their first major victory was that of an overwhlming number of Skaven defeating High elves, Wood Elves and Skaven. With many of the large armies in their army fleeing, the Empire forces began to panic. It appeared that if more evil forces arrived, good would certainly not be able to hold out, but just as the evil alliance appeared to be overwhleming their adversaries, Lizardmen arrived to intercept a large mob of Orcs and Goblins, and then progressed to the Wasteland to aid the Empire to more victories. The Sindarin, or Grey Elves, emerged from their homes around the Seven Lakes over the Black Mountains, and made steady progress towards the Empire, beating Undead, Orcs and Goblins and Dark Elves. Treacherous Dogs of War fought and won for both good and evil (depending on who paid more). The round came to a head with two huge battles. The first was in the north of the Wasteland, where Chaos, Skaven, Chaos Dwarves and Dark Elves managed to overpower Empire, High Elves, Wood Elves and Dogs of War. Meanwhile, in the shadow of Marienburg, Dwarves and Borderlanders defeated Orcs and treacherous Dogs of War. This victory gave the Empire and her Allies the edge, although the forces of evil were by no means destroyed.

Although good were yet again victorious, news has broken that Orcs have lead a sneak attack on the villiages on the bank of the River Reik in the west of the Empire. The Empire and her Allies must hold out against evil until more troops can arrive.

I have decided to give awards to the races which did the most the defend or damn the Empire. The Medallion of Sigmar is for the race who made the greatest contribution to the cause of good, and the mark of Chaos is for the race who did the most for the cause of evil. The wooden spoon- well, that's rather obvious.

Medallion of Sigmar: Wood Elves

The tree- lovers fought well both in alliances and on their own, making up for a dissappointing performance in the first round.

Mark of Chaos: Skaven

The huge numbers of Skaven managed to overwhelm many an Empire Warrior. Only one defeat in the whole round.

Wooden Spoon: Brettonians

Nine battles with not a single victory. Call yourself brave? Useless! It's time for the knights to pray to the Lady of the Lake for better fortune in the next round.

Good Armies

You are commanding the defence of the lands on the bank of the River Reik. You must prevent the evil forces from destroying villages and buildings, and hold out until reinforcements arrive.

Empire, Brettonians, Dwarfs, High Elves, Wood Elves, Lizardmen and Dogs of War can all help defend the Empire.

Evil Armies

You are launching an attack on the Empire's lands around the river Reik. You must destroy all of the good armies defences before reinforcements arrive.

Chaos, Orcs and Goblins, Dark Elves, Undead, Chaos Dwarfs, Skaven and Dogs of War can all help damn the Empire.

To take part in this round of the form, play a 'Last Stand' scenario, as detailed in the Battle Book with the good armies as defenders and evil armies as attackers. If you don't have the book, basically, the evil army is TWICE THE SIZE of the good army. Deploy the good army in the centre of the table and the Evil army around the edge of the table. Play for 4 turns, and work out victory points as normal. If the good army has any units left, give them 5 extra victory points (or 500 if you are using the VP100 system). Also, all of the defenders army has +1 leadership. Then, fill in the form below and click send.
