This is the Boeing Osprey. The search for practical Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) craft has been going on for decades. In the area of fighter planes, the Hawker Harrier was the first. This Osprey is a troop carrier/cargo plane designed to take off vertically and fly horizontally faster than a helicopter.
