Shinji Ikari
Identity: Third Child Shinji is the 14-year-old piolot of Eva Unit 01. He is also the son of the mysterious (and cold) Gendo Ikari. Shinji desparately craves his father's love -- he even admits that the reason why he pilots Unit 01 is to please his father -- but his father has never shown any human kindness to anyone ever since Shinji's mother mysteriously disappeared 10 years ago in an Eva experiment. Shiniji is a quiet, yet caring person. |

Rei Ayanami
Identity: First Child A girl of few words, Rei is the most quiet and mysterious of the Eva pilots. She has a great deal of difficulty in expressing human emotion, but strangely develops an attraction to Gendo Ikari.

Asuka Langly Soryu
Identity: Second Child Perhaps the most snotty and annoying of the Eva pilots, Asuka is obsessed with showing off and proving she's the best. However, we later find out that Asuka's brazen outside personality actually masks her inner feelings and insecurities. Within her, Asuka feels almost the same way as Shinji: lonely. |
Misato Katsuragi NERV Operations Chief Misato is second in command only to Gendo Ikari, NERV's supreme commander. Since Gendo doesn't care at all about his son, Misato becomes a mother/sister figure for Shinji. Misato's main goal in life is to destroy the angels who killed her father during the Second Impact. |
Ritsuko Akagi Head of Evangelion Development Project Calm and even-tempered as opposed to the hot-headed Misato, Ritsuko has known her ever since they were in school. She heads all the scientific research and development that goes into the Eva's. |
Gendo Ikari NERV Supreme Commander Gendo Ikari is a cold and emotionless man whose main goals in directing NERV is unclear. His past is surrounded in mystery, having also been the designated leader of the Geihrin Project at the time of the Second Impact. He seems to have lost all emotion since 10 years ago when his wife Yui died. |
Ryouji Kaji NERV Special Force Kaji used to be Misato's boyfriend, but they spilt up because Misato thought he was too immature. Now, years later, he is still immature and constantly pursues Misato. Despite his handsome appearance and ready smile, Ryouji has different intentions rather than serving NERV and Gendo Ikari. (SPY! SPY! SPY!) Ahem. I didn't say anyting ;) |
