Fushigi Yuugi is about a girl named Miaka who accidentally gets pulled inside a book called "The Universe of the Four Gods" which takes her to a fantasy ancient China. There, she becomes Suzaku No Miko, a maiden with the power to call upon the South god Suzaku and get her three wishes granted. Meanwhile, her best friend Yui also gets pulled into the book and becomes Seiryuu No Miko. Miaka is forced to go against her friend in her quest to call upon Suzaku and return home. In her journey, she is protected by 7 seishi: Hotohori, Tamahome, Nuriko, Tasuki, Mitsukake, Chirichi, and Chiriko. Fortunately, I have all 52 episodes to the series as well as the two OAV series. (but half of the episodes are *really* blurry 5th generation tapes!)
TV series Rating: PG (well, kinda... maybe PG-13 for some violence and mature situations)
OAV Rating: R for nudity. Nudity: almost none in the TV series, but several times in the OAV's.
Story Line: There's always a good plot to drive the story on.
Comedy: Some.
Violence: Some non-graphic violence.
Genre: Fantasy, comedy, romance, trajedy.
