Born Lucky
Host: Bob Goen
Announcer: Jonathan Coleman
Premise: Four contestants play this scaled down version of "Beat the Clock," in malls around
the California area.
Rules: Bob picks four audience members out of the crowd to play the game. Each player plays a game with a chance to collect up to $100 in "Mall Money." (it's just like cash, but you can only spend it at the mall. The stunts have several parts to them, and each part completed is worth $10 or $20. Stunts might be trivia quizzes (matching next door neighbors to sitcoms, or men to their celebrity wives), physical tasks, or other silly stuff. No matter how much money the contestant collects, he or she draws one card from a group of five, on the back of the card is the name of a small prize won by that person no matter what (prizes were worth between $50-$200).
Out of the four players from the first round, the two that collect the most money move through to the Challenge Round. If there is a tie for second place, those tying draw an envelope with money inside, and the one with more money moves on.
In the Challenge Round, the two remaining contestants are presented a challenge, and bid against each other to see who can perform the most times in 60 seconds. The winning bidder must attempt the challenge. If successful, he or she goes to the Championship Round, otherwise the other challenger wins by default. Tasks in this round included catapulting boxes into a barrel, throwing sticky balls onto the player's velcro helmet, or naming the fifty states.
The winner has 90 seconds to complete five mini-games for $100 each, or $2,000 for all five. The player is allowed to pass only one, and the games are themed (Sick Day, Sports Fan, At the Zoo). There would usually be a mix of stunts; one would be a pop culture quiz, the rest would be physical stuff.
