Break the Bank
Host: Bert Parks
Premise: The first big money quiz. Contestants answer
progressively difficult questions to break the bank.
Rules: Each player brought on stage must answer eight
questions to Break the Bank:

I'm not sure how the money stacks up, but the bank was
the eighth question, and the seventh was "Gateway to the
Bank" for $500. Each player could miss one and continue,
but a second miss ended the game and forfeited all winnings
to the bank. The bank grew until someone got the eighth
question, then the bank started again at $1000. The record
bank was $8,870, which was a lot of cash in the fifties.
