(It's Your) Chance of a Lifetime
Host: Gordon Elliot
Announcer: Mark Thompson
Premise: Contestants answer questions and bet money on their ability to do so.
Play: Gordon calls out one player from the audience: "It's Your Chance of a Lifetime, John Doe!" Said player goes to his or her chair opposite of Gordon, in front of their computer screen.
The Credit Card Question
To begin play, Gordon procures the contestant's credit card statement, and asks the 'Credit Card Question' to pay off all of that debt- whether it be under $1000 or over $9000, that question pays the bill. Then, the game proper begins.
The Game
The player is shown a list of ten categories:
Famous Places
People
In the News
Movies
Television
Pop Music
Toys and Games
Pop Culture
Animal Kingdom
Famous Events
and one is randomly chosen for the first question, worth $5000. A right answer wins the money, a wrong answer ends the contest. The player has two minutes to decide on an answer, and "lock it in" by pressing a button, which causes a neon light to circle the monitor.
Every question after the first requires the player to bet at least half of his or her total, or quit. A right answer wins the amount of the bet, and allows the player to continue, a wrong answer ends the game, but the player keeps the Credit Card amount, as well as whatever was left over from the bet.
If a player answers all nine questions correctly, and bets the maximum each time, the player stands to win $1,280,000 plus up to $10,000 from the first question. Starting at the seventh question, a relative or friend is brought on stage to watch the action.
Second Chances
To help the player, two "second chances" are given to the player, and may be used anytime.
Change Category:The category is changed to the favorite category of the player's choice, before or after the question is read.
Multiple Choice:The question now has three choices to pick from.
The Last Chance
If the player can successfully answer six questions (making it to the third level) the Last Chance is given. The Last Chance may be used anytime, and as either of the Second Chance.
