Manhunt
HOST: Hash Shaalan
Hunters: Big Tim (John Cena), Rayne, Koa
Run: August 2001-September 2001
PREMISE: UPN's first game show; a step into the foray of reality games, a race and chase for $250,000.
PLAY: There are thirteen contestants; the one who reaches the finish line first wins the money. In order to do that, that person must survive for six days on an island in the South Pacific, 50 miles across. The players must travel as a group, and twice per day, the hunters arrive. Each of the three hunters has three paintballs, which may be fired every ten seconds. Three hits sends a contestant packing. Once during the game, a player may wave the white flag and surrender, which counts as a hit. Wave the flag twice, and you're out.
At the end of each episode, one player is elected to run The Gauntlet. That player must retrieve a flag 50 yards away and bring it back within three minutes. Doing so keeps that player safe, being marked or running out of time counts as three hits.
At the beginning of day six, the four remaining players had their marks erased and were given paintball markers of their own to use against the Hunters in the Run for the Money.
Manhunt gained more notoriety for the scandal surrounding the outcome of the game and editing of certain games and challenges. Even NAVY Seal Hash Shaalan was slated to be the referee for the game, but his speaking parts were edited out except for the airgun training.
Winner Nicole Guardillo was a contestant on GSN's "Russian Roulette" in 2002, and made it to the third round before her elimination at the final question.
John Cena can now be seen on UPN's "WWE Smackdown!" Thursday nights, 8-10 pm.
