Pass the Buck
1978
Host: Bill Cullen
Announcer: Bob Hilton
Give an answer fitting the list question you've been given, in the bonus round, give several predetermined answers.
Rules: To begin, Bill asks the four contestants a question like: "To stay in the game, you must name a famous John." Each player in turn must come up with an original answer in time or be eliminated. Each acceptable answer adds $25 to a bank which begins at $100. The eventual winner gets this money, which is usually at least $500, and occasionally grew to over $1,000.
If a player cannot come up with an answer in time, repeats an answer, or gives an answer that the judge feels doesn't fit the question, that person is in "jeopardy". That player's lectern light changes from red to blue. The next player in line then plays, and if that person gives a correct answer, the "jeopardy" player is out. If not, the answerer is also in jeopardy. Thus, two or three players can be knocked out with a right answer. If all four players are stumped consecutively, the question is tossed and a fresh one asked.
After a knockout, another question is asked. This continues until one player remains. This player wins all the money in the bank and plays the "Fast Bucks Bonus."
Bonus: In Fast Bucks, the player is asked a question, and has 15 seconds to come up with as many answers as possible. Four are hidden on the gameboard. Each hidden answer mentioned wins $100. If all four are found, the player wins $5,000. If no answers are found, the bonus ends. If at least one is found, the player is asked another question with three hidden answers, under the same conditions. If another answer is found, a question with two hidden answers is asked, and the last question has one hidden answer worth $5,000.
All contestants in the game remain on the game until someone wins the Fast Bucks round, at that point, all the losing players are eliminated, and keep their winnings. The champion faces three new challengers.
