1998 DTB Cup

1998 DTB Cup

The DTB Cup is a Grand Prix style competition. It is the same style as the Swiss Cup which is held 2 weeks before. Every year it attracts many of the world's top gymnasts, mainly from Europe. It's format is rather complicated though. First there is a qualifacation session. Many of the top names do not have to compete in the qualifying round because they are pre-qualified. Then there is the final. The top 2 scoring athletes from the final on each event go together in head-to-head competition in the "winner's final". The winner of the winner's final is the overall champion. So, if a person falls in the winner's final and scores a 8.9, and the 3rd place from the final has a 9.3, the gymnast with the 8.9 would still get 2nd place because they had already made the winner's final. Note: Men's results were not available on 11/29.
