Endgame

*Synopsis: TWO-HOUR SERIES FINALE
A mysterious visitor from another time forces Captain Janeway into a deadly confrontation. In the midst of the peril, an unexpected liaison alters the "Voyager" family.

Webmistress's thoughts:
This final episode surpassed my expectations. The Borg were defeated, we met the elderly crew of Voyager, Seven and Chakotay are going to be married, B'Elanna gave birth to her daughter, and they got home, but the writers have also left a few unanswered questions.

The Borg have been destroyed (or atleast all that we know of them). There could be several Borg Queens out there as some have speculated. This Borg Queen (played by Alice Krige) was the original Queen in First Contact, but she was killed by Picard. (I'm not going to try to explain the paradox there.) Then there was the Queen who played in other Voyager episodes. So there is a possibility of many Borg Queens. Now we can understand how Borg ships sometimes appeared in TNG episodes or later Voyager episodes. They used a subspace hub to get around.

It was said that the Voyager crew took another 16 years to get home. They had been home 10 years when Admiral Janeway were back into the past. So in those 10 years, Ensign Kim was promoted to Captain? It is possible that he was temporarily promoted under Captain Janeway to Lieutenant, but that's still quite fast.

At first, it seemed as though Seven and Harry would get together. It was only recently that Chakotay and Seven began developing a relationship, but now that they have, it seems like they belong together. Seven has become human enough to develop a relationship with someone other than a holodeck character. Too bad for the doctor.

B'Elanna's daughter looked an awful lot like Roxann Dawson. I don't know if it was the make up or if she was actually related to Mrs. Dawson. The name at the end of the credits didn't seem to relate either of the characters. Kind of odd... but it was good to see her finally born.

For seven years, the crew had been stranded in the Delta Quadrant and with the help of Admiral Janeway, they were able to cut another 16 years off the journey and save 22 lives and still destroy the Borg's hub.

One thing about this episode leaves a question in my mind though, the paradox. (and no, I don't mean two ducks. :) ) If Admiral Janeway came from a future where they got home after another 16 years, that future no longer exists since they got home that day, and if that future no longer exists, the Admiral Janeway that came back in time couldn't have existed either. If she didn't exist though, the Voyager crew wouldn't have gotten home that day, they'd have to wait another 16 years to get home and then she would exist, come back in time and get them home that day again. Then she wouldn't exist again! I hope that made sense! That's the paradox, but I guess it really doesn't matter, because

They're home!
