Nightingale

*Synopsis: November 22, 2000
This episode is directed by LeVar Burton

While Voyager's power core is down undergoing extensive maintenance, a Kraylor ship ostensibly on a humanitarian mission, is brutally attacked by the warring Annari. Harry Kim is granted permission to take the helm of the crippled vessel and, with the assistance of Seven of Nine, help her on her voyage home. Kim's new position, however, goes to his head, and he finds himself learning a lesson in leadership while under the Annari guns.

Webmistress's thoughts:
Firstly, LeVar Burton did a pretty good job in directing this one. ;)

Now onto the review... Since when does a Captain allow an Ensign to take command of a mission? There were two species at war with each other and she sends in an Ensign to command. It's a good thing Janeway sent Seven with Harry. Harry was letting command go to his head. It looks like he learned something from it though. Captain Janeway had taught Harry by letting him do things on his own when he first came on board Voyager. I still don't think she should have let him go without a chief officer, though.

Personally, I think this episode was more of a rehash of other episodes. They've done aliens at war with each other and getting into the middle of it. The only thing really different was that Harry was in command.

I was sitting there watching Icheb and B'Elanna and I couldn't figure out what purpose the writers had for putting that part in. Were they trying to give Icheb more screen time? Were they testing B'Elanna's loyalty to her husband? I just couldn't figure out why. Anyone have a thought?
