A Memorial To My Mom


I am dedicating this page to my mom,
Lois Lorraine (Duncan) Rader.

Born July 26, 1922 and died July 13, 1993.

She was raised in the Badlands of South Dakota and moved to Washington State about the time this picture was taken. There she met Bill Rader and got married to him in 1945. I came along in 1947. She endured a horrible marriage for 49 years, and finally dad was gone and she was free to live her life. Tragically she was also finally free to see a doctor and found out she was terribly ill, and less than two years later she was dead from what we believe to be stomach cancer. She had an anurism in her aorta which was so huge that they could not even "scope" her to see what was going on in her stomach. Because of severe heart desease she was also inoperable, so she literally starved to death. Thankfully I got to move in with her at the end so she never had to go to a hospital or nursing home. She got to die at home, which is what she wanted, with me there beside her.
