Dave's Favorite Equipment
Dave Hofferbert had a life changing experience at the tender young age of 15. In a smoke filled theater called the Paramount, the seeds were sown that would blossom into a life long ambition. The mystical force on the stage that night was the Allman Brothers Band. I was completely mesmerized by the guitar riffs and rhythms of the southern Blues. I emerged from that smoke filled theater with a new purpose in life, to someday be able to weave that magic, and bring what I felt that night to other people.
Well, I don't expect I've changed anybody's life with my playing, but I have a good time trying! The Mescals were formed with the purpose of having a good time with friends and live music, I can say we are doing that. My early influences were Duane Allman, Dicky Betts, (of course), Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and David Gilmore. More recent influences have been Otis Rush, SRV, Magic Slim, Ronnie Earl, and the too many to mention Blues greats. Without whom, none of this would be happening. I have a deep love of the Blues that flavors everything I play. I always give it a double shot of heart and soul.
