Sample Songs of The Mescals Live
* The Mescals were formed in mid 1994 when friends Kent Klineburger and David Hofferbert began jamming on the blues together. Kent playing harmonica and David the guitar. In their enthusiasm they recruited a mutual friend Joe Skewis to play bass guitar. With this trio began the birth of The Mescals, originaly called J.D. Lewis and The Mescals. "J.D. Lewis" being a pen name David was using to write songs under and "The Mescals" coming from Joe's favorite alcoholic beverage.
* All that was needed was a drummer, a position which was originaly filled by Roland, a drummer of limited capabilities. This trio plus one began playing private parties and honing their skills with extended live jams. After a while efforts were made to find a better drummer. Several different drummers later The Mescals hooked up with drummer Dan "Sticks" Seese a co-worker of David's at Boeing. Now all the elements were in place to start playing local venues.
* With the increased time necessary to fulfill engagements Kent and Dan decided to leave the band to meet personel commitments within their live's. Now David and Joe were faced with finding a drummer to play active bookings at local clubs. The answer came within Mark Oslund. Mark had been Joe's first guitar teacher many years before and was now playing drums for his own studio projects. The call went out and the answer came in, Mark would join forces with David and Joe to form The Mescal three piece.
* With Mark's solid drumming, experience and vast musical knowledge the band became even tighter and had a new sound. This current line-up is what drives The Mescals.
