ROME '84 REVISITED

Red Cow 2CDR

Palaeur (Rome, Italy); June 19, 1984 (line)

Tracklist: Highway 61 Revisited, Jokerman, All Along The Watchtower, Just Like A Woman, Maggie's Farm, I And I, License To Kill, Just My Imagination [Greg Sutton], Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, Tangled Up In Blue, It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding), Simple Twist Of Fate, Masters Of War, Ballad Of A Thin Man, When You Gonna Wake Up, Every Grain Of Sand, Like A Rolling Stone, Mr Tambourine Man, It Ain't Me Babe, The Times They Are A-Changin', I Shall Be Released, Tombstone Blues, Blowin' In The Wind

NOTE: A substantially superior version of the material first released as Oh The Streets of Rome. This relatively obscure release was quickly cloned as the better known Live At Palaeur, to which the excerpted comments were originally directed.

DEEP: This new edition presents the show in fuller, more balanced sound than the tinny, thin-sounding original release. This set has more bottom, and while Mick Taylor is still not front and center in the mix he is more "in play." Dylan's vocal sound is extraordinarily clear and defined, and his lyrical improvisations are on dazzling display. The performance as a whole is a joy to behold. A wonderful set.

rmd: A gorgeous presentation. The sound is fantastic, clean and balanced, and the performance is quite impressive, strong and careful though certainly not overly cautious. A very masculine affair from beginning to end; it oozes anger, disdain, and pride. (DM)
