Reflections
Well Invisible City is basically a song where Jakob talks about the
negative things in society. How short time pleasures may satisfy a person
for a short time but in the long run hurt them. It also talks about
how people are hypocrites and so on. ~BTW I came across this webpage
the other day and it analyzed this song but it said that Jakob is a
racist because he put down the Black community with this song. I was
like "Whoa!!" never seen something like that and will much less believe
it!! ~ Vanessa
"Looking back at the crash site I don't see me by the road side"
- Looks back at an incident where he may have been hurt but not
seriously
"Well this heart is on wheels tonight straight through the ghettos and
without lights"
- His emotions are running wild without a direction
"Now every heart has a blind side where it learns how to improvise"
- Every heart has a weak side
"Well this place is a whore house tonight cheaper lovers make expensive wives"
- He says that cheap thrills or pleasures may satisfy you for a
short time but in the end you end up paying a heavy price.
"But all of these horses that you chase around in the end they are the
ones that always bring you down. This invisible city where no one sees
nothing were touching faces in the dark feeling pretty is so hard."
- Again short little pleasures bring you down in the future.
Invisible city is a place where people try to ignore what is going on
around them. They don't want to see that they are hurting themselves.
They look upon people superficially but never take the time to really get
to know you.
"Now all of these voices and all of the noises with all their illusion
of choices they've come to my door with one dozen roses"
- People pretend to care about you by doing things for you but
they really don't care about you they just want to look good.
"The imitation of good faith is how you stumble upon hate. It may have
been the first of mistakes where we held on too loosely that opened the
gates"
- The thing that makes everything worse is being a hypocrite. People
just can't be themselves.
"Now I try not to tell lies but there's pressures from inside, so I've
learned how to compromise good people for alibis"
- He tries to be himself in the middle of all of this but there
are external pressures trying to mold him like everyone else. So he's
learned how to use other peoples excuses for his own.
