More on the Events of the Past Week

Osama Bin Laden. Nostradamus predicted that a man in a blue turbin would come out of the Middle East and cause World War III. Think about that.

In this column I want to cover a few things some that are important and some things that are just fluff. First off, I want to say that I'm glad all the channels have returned to normal. If I wanted to watch CNN, I would have turned to that channel. I can understand on Tuesday and Wednesday, maybe Thursday, but Friday should've been normal TV. I needed some laughter for crying out loud.

Second thing I want to talk about is the media. The first day I can understand all the weird things that were going on, but after that, most channels did a really good job. I can honestly say I can't stand Dan Rather. It's nothing personal or political, I just don't like him. Tom Brokaw's voice bothers me, so I have to watch Jennings by default.

One thing I noticed was that all of the "intelligent" students watched the BBC coverage fo the events. I guess the British are just so much more civilized.

I think going to war every once in a while is good for the country as a whole. It gives everyone a common enemy to unite against and it brings out the best in the best and the worst in the worst. I am aware that people die, but it's a really good feeling to walk down the street and see our great flag hanging off balconies, cars, and hanging in windows. And it's a great way for the U.S. to show the world in so many ways why we are the greatest nation.

I want to go on record as saying that I really, really don't like wearing ribbons. I gave all the cash in my wallet to the Red Cross, I've had an American flag hanging in my apartment for at least a month, and always pay my taxes. If someone thinks I'm a commie because I don't have a little ribbon on my collar than too bad.

Remember before the Gulf War how the media kept saying that this could be a long war with many lives lost to Saddam's elite Army? So do I.

The CD that I currently am in love with was actually purchased at a Christian bookstore. It's called Untitled by The Benjamin Gate. It's so amazing. You are probably wondering why I was in a Christian bookstore. Well, I wanted to pray this past week and I like to have something to focus on so I needed a crucifix. I went there and they had no crucifixes. They had crosses, but not one with Christ on it. So I had to order it. Afterwards I thought I'd see what Christian music had to offer seeing as I absolutely hate everything on FM radio. I've bought about four CDs in the past two years, two of which were WWF theme songs. So I listen and pick out two that sounded good on their little sample center (I also bought Point of Grace's latest Free to Fly). I'd heard of Point before and thought they had a good sound (harmonious women like Wilson Phillips kind of). The Benjamin Gate sound like music that should be about death, sex, and other things I'm tired of being pounded into this culture via MTV. But it's about heaven, hope, and life. It's really cool. It was a good trip to the mall that day. That's Untitled by Benjamin Gate.
