Alien: Resurrection

Witness the resurrection.

After being disappointed with Alien3 I must say my hopes weren't exactly high for Aliens: Resurrection. I was hoping it would be good. I'm a big fan of the comic books and past movies, but reality showed it wasn't one to rely on for greatness.

Boy, was I shocked! Ron Perlman was amazing as Johner. He's ugly, he's scarey, and he's so cool. Winona Ryder does an okay job, but I just don't see her as being strong enough to battle aliens. The acting is very good. I loved recognizing faces from past movies...the bad guy from Metro, Carla's ex-husband on Cheers. It was neat.

Sigourney Weaver proves she is one of the best actresses around. She plays basically the same character as previous (Ellen Ripley), but she's supposed to be half alien so her character is different. It's a more physical performance. She is different, yet the same. It's a great performance. Weaver is one sexy, tough woman.

The plot seems like it could fit into the comic books real easily. This is a great idea. The comic books have much better plots than the movies have. So many things are going on you have to pay attention and stay on the edge of your seat all the time. The special effects are incredible. Watch for the underwater scenes, you'll like it a lot.

Overall, I was fairly impressed with Alien: Resurrection when I compare it to Alien3. I give Alien: Resurrection a B.
