This film opened to terrible reviews and made a terrible amount of money. I saw it opening weekend and I recently watched it on video just for this review. All I have to say is...it's not that bad. Read a comic book and than read the script. The lines are the same. People thought it was corny, well that's what a comic book is like. Bad one-liners and pointless banter between the hero and villain. It's just the way it is.
I liked Batman and Robin from the first time I saw it. I never saw what was supposed to be so bad about it. People said Alicia Silverstone can't act. Well, maybe she can't but that's still no reason to tear apart the whole movie. It's not that bad. It's fun and exciting and the stunts and special effects are very cool.
Arnold Schwarzenegger does a good job as Mr. Freeze. He's funny and tough and the way he's defeated is very good. He helps Batman and that shows just what Freeze really was about. He didn't want to kill everybody, he just wanted a cure.
Uma Thurman is very funny as Poison Ivy. The teaming up of Ivy and Bain is perfect. The females in the comic books are normally way too strong for a female. To make up for that in the movie, Bain is thrown in to do Ivy's dirty work. Thurman seems to be having a fun time portraying such a wacked out character. And she's so darn nice to look at.
George Clooney is not the best Batman. That honor goes to Val Kilmer, but Clooney is still much better than Michael Keaton. Clooney's gestures and posture are perfect. He seems overconfident and cockey just like Batman would. He walks with a suaveness that Batman finally deserves after three films. Clooney does his job well and that's all I have to say about that.
I didn't hate Batman and Robin and I think that's the most important part of my review. It's not that bad. I give it a C+.
