Bonnie & Clyde

I've heard a lot about how great this film is supposed to be. The final is so good. So at the very least, I was expecting a pretty decent flick. I definitely was shocked with my own opinion of it.

Warren Beatty seems way to friendly to be a killer. He seems too likable, too nice. He needs to toughen up. His young boyish face has no expression except for a grin that never seems to leave. I do not like Warren Beatty as an actor and this film didn't convince me at all.

Fay Dunaway is good, but maybe just too good. She puts Beatty to shame and it's not her fault. Bonnie though is just too passive. She excepts things too easily.

My personal favorite is Gene Hackman as Clyde's nutty brother, Bucky. He continuously cracks me up and seems so unHackman-like. He's goofy and crazy and I now respect Hackman a lot more. He does a great job here.

The romance of Bonnie and Clyde doesn't get me either. I never believed they were truly in love and Clyde's impotence just seems stupid. I just wish I could've seen one longing look from them as they watch the other just walk across the road or something. They seem like high schoolers in puppy love, not two outlaws in crime romance.

The ending I found to be too expected. I wish we would've been as shocked as Bonnie and Clyde were at there own massacre. I understood it, but I just wondered, what the hell was that all about? I felt like it was too soon and enough hadn't happened. I found most of the film boring (included the shootouts) and was hoping for something to happen

I wish I could grade it higher, but all it deserves is a C-.
