I don't really like Toy Story. The animation is fantastic, but I've always thought the story was stupid. I didn't like the two main characters and thought the supporting cast was boring, too.
A Bug's Life is the movie I have been waiting for Pixar to make. It's amazing to view, and the story is awesome though we all know how it will end.
An excentric ant, Flik (Dave Foley), ruins the seasons offering to the grasshoppers and is sent to the city to find big, warrior bugs to fight the grasshoppers when they return. That's the entire premise in one long sentence. The movie is okay until the minute Flik sets off. The group of insects that he finds to help the colony is the best part. The caterpiller is hilarious. It's funny accent and bizarre lifestyle made me nearly cry with laughter. Denis Leary as Francis the Ladybug is also very good.
Though this is a kid's film, adults should be as anxious to see this as their children. It's great and at the screening I saw, we got to see Pixar's short film that won an Oscar. I forget it's name.
Before I forget I'd like to mention Kevin Spacey as Hopper, the leader of the evil grasshoppers. He is so bad, I hate those damn grasshoppers. I give A Bug's Life an A.
