Halloween: H20

I know they tried hard. They worked their asses off. They needed closure for the series. Still I don't really think this film should have been made.

All we really get to see is more killings by Michael Myers and more chase scenes. There's really no originality to the film. We've been there we've done that isn't just a feeling, it's a fact.

We get the kids alone in the basement and Michael Myers picking them off one by one. We get keys that are just out of reach when the hero needs them to escape. We get the "is he or isn't he dead" scenes over and over. You almost want to shout "Go in there!" just so you can see a character that is so stupid they deserve to be killed anyway.

Jamie Lee Curtis does an okay job. I actually think she's being way overpraised for this movie. Josh Hartnett is actually much better as her son. He's far more intelligent than most of the characters in this film.

The high point of the film for me was the ending. I may stumble into spoiler territory so "buyer beware," but I loved the ending. The fact that it leaves no room for a sequel is a great thing. The last thing this franchise needs is the possibility of another sequel that will weaken the once strong franchise.

I give Halloween: H20 a C+.
