Christian Slater is one of my all time favorite actors. I've never seen a horrible film with him in it. He never makes a great film, but they're always entertaining to say the least. I feel sorry for his recent personal problems and I hope he recovers and doesn't become another Robert Downey Jr.
Anyway on with the show. The reviews for this film weren't good. It did pretty bad at the box office, but since Slater was in it, I had to see it. The premise is pretty simple. A group of four men set out to rob an armored truck. The only problem is the town is flooded in waste deep water. Things go bad and the excitement begins. Slater pretty much repeats his character from Broken Arrow as he is the hero/average guy. It's okay, but I want more comedies like Kuffs and Pump Up the Volume from Slater.
The cast is full of stars like Minnie Driver, Betty White, Randy Quaid, Morgan Freeman, and Ed Asner. It's a solid cast and the movie is always flipping around so you never know what will happen next with the water always rising. Obviously, most people didn't like Hard Rain, but I say let it pour.
I liked Morgan Freeman as the bad guy for a change and Randy Quaid doesn't play a doofus. Driver pretty much is the standard modern day female in action, but she's easy on the eyes and that's all we need.
I liked this film and I'm gonna give it a B.
