I really don't like Sandra Bullock. I can't stand her. I find her irritating as hell and if it wasn't for her incredible ass, I'd like to see her killed. I would never have watched this if I just wasn't in the mood for writing up a really bad review. Ironically, I liked it too much to give it a bad review.
I likedHope Floats for so many reasons. First of all, Harry Connick Jr. is an amazing new talent. He's messed around in small roles long enough he needs to commit himself to a serious supporting actor. One of the best scenes of the movie is when he's out on the porch talking to Travis (Cameron Finley). It's such a touching and dear scene. It will make any man who wants kids weep like an infant.
The small town she moves to is just like a real small town. It's got the perverted picture developer. The stuck-up white trash that will never leave the town ever. And the bar is the center of all life in the town.
Let me not forget Sandra Bullock's mother, Gena Rowlands. She provides some of the best comic relief in the film. She is just like senior citizens all across America. She isn't helpless, just misunderstood. I give Hope Floats a B+.
