Pitch Black

I knew this was going to be another rip off of Aliens, yet I can’t resist going to see it. The idea of the monsters fearing light was something I was interested in seeing. The one element that brought me to the theater was seeing Vin Diesel on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

After seeing Diesel there, I was impressed by his intelligence. This is no Van Damme. He reminds me of Arnold: big, strong, and very cool. By the way, I really hate people that refer to Arnold Schwarzenegger as Ah-nold. They do this at Ain’t It Cool News and it’s just very annoying.

Pitch Black has no real stars in it. Diesel is an up-and-comer. He shows some potential, but the rest of the cast is very forgettable. The special effects (especially the eclipse) is very well done. The opening sequence is very intense, but the ending is the most anticlimatic I’ve seen in a long time. It’s very ho-hum. That’s why I have to give Pitch Black a C-.
