I've seen Star Wars more than just about any other movie. It's not my favorite, it's one of my favorites, but not the favorite. I want to review the special edition changes as well as the original movie so just hang with me.
I don't know why I love this movie. It seems so unoriginal in pieces. Together I think it is completely original and incredibly powerful. The fact that the entire movie (special effects and acting) still holds up today shows just what a genius George Lucas truly is. Every word seems to mean so much. It's like a painting where each color has more than one meaning. Star Wars seems to enter your soul and become a part of you like few movies can.
The changes that they have made for the special edition are good except for when Han Solo gets shot at by Greedo before he kills him. It doesn't just change the scene, but it changes Han Solo's entire character. If he waited to get shot at first he wouldn't last long in Mos Eisley. But the scenes with Jabba the Hutt are amazing. I love to watch that scene though Jabba is way too thin.
It's a given that I give Star Wars an A.
