Tomorrow Never Dies

I'm no James Bond expert, not do I find James Bond films to be my cup of tea. GoldenEye was too boring and after Dalton cursed the Bond series, I had little hope for Tomorrow Never Dies.

Pierce Brosnan does an incredible job in TND (why do the titles have little to do with the actual films?). He's as suave and debonair as any Bond before and he's far more lethal. He's kicking butt and not bothering with taking names. Never before have I seen such cool gadgetry either in a Bond film. Remote control BMWs, handheld fingerprint scanner, and a tiny explosive on the back of his watch are just some of the goods to look for.

The plot is easy to follow, but not too simple. It's believable and Iove how the Bond plotlines have been updated to fit today's society. Before they wanted to rule the world, now the villains just want a bunch of money and/or power.

Teri Hatcher's role is kept to a perfect minimum. I can't stand her in large doses. She's very pleasing on the eyes, but I just can't think about anything except what a bitch she always seems to be.

Michelle Yeoh is awesome. I'd love to see her come out with a sequel of this film that's just about her character. She's beautiful, sexy, and can beat the hell out of any man. It's such a bonus to know that she does her own stunts like Jackie Chan. But unlike Chan she can act.

The opening and closing scenes are such masterpieces of special effects that you always wonder "Where do they come up with them?" This Bond movie was something else, it's just too bad they all are not this good. I give Tomorrow Never Dies a B+.
