I would've put more "Other Reviews" down below, but they all focused on the film's lack of plot. I think that's retarded. The outlandishness of the plot is the movie. The fact that everyone is so dumb as not to realize that Schwarzenegger is a nerdy computer salesman and not anything else is funny. True Lies is meant to make you laugh. It's the Scream of action films. It just does it so much less obvious than it's sister horror flick.
When Schwarzenegger is on top of the skyscraper wanting the horse he is riding to jump to another building, we never doubt for a second that he's gonna do it and it's gonna be one helluva stunt. But when the horse stops and Arnold topples over it, we laugh our heads off. It's got it all, Baby.
Tom Arnold as Harry Tasker's (Arnold Schwarzenegger) partner, Gib, is the best he'll probably ever be. The role seems so perfect and Arnold actually seems to be acting. He shines, he has talent, what happened to him?
Jamie Lee Curtis as Tasker's dreary wife, Helen, is also perfect for her role. When the movie switches it's focus to her she steps up and takes the bull by the horns. Her pseudo-striptease is hilarious and sexy. And the way she changes throughout the picture shows a true growth of her character.
I love this movie. It's one of the best of the Schwarzenegger movies. I give it an A.
