THOUGHTS ON FACING THE NEW YEAR
2000
In a special bit of reverie
While ponderng year's end,
I think of all this year has meant
And why I call you friend.
As we read so very often
On this thing we call the net,
You've found a place within my heart
Although we've never met.
For each of you it's different ...
Some are work and some are play.
With some of you I rarely chat ...
Some I talk to every day.
Some of you have taught me
And some of you I've taught.
We've laughed and cried and shared our dreams
... sometimes we even fought.
You've let me travel 'round the world,
Without putting on a coat.
We've shared our homes, our families,
Maple donuts ... rootbeer floats!
So as the year is ending
And we're facing Y2K,
I had to take a moment
To make sure I got to say
That no matter what should happen ...
If we glide right through or not,
If the whole scare was just adman hype
Or our total system's shot,
I'm so glad I got to know you
That this time we got to spend
And always when I hear your name
I'll think "That is my friend!"
