Can it be? Is Nintendo actually falling behind in the race of the video game systems? This Christmas season proved that N64 had indeed, fallen behind. Best Buy sold the Atomic Purple N64 for a small $90! Target sold N64 for a minute(my-newt) $80! Playstation and DreamCast sold lots while N64 got left in the dust! What is the result of this sales bomb? Read on!
Game developers Rockstar and Acclaim are going to cease their manufacturing of N64 games. Rockstar stated yesterday that they have stopped all N64 development and canceled the games they had in development. Acclaim's annual report showed that this will almost definitely be their last year of full support for the system. Two developers is nothing right? Who's Rockstar?? I can't even think of a game by them! I'm worried about Acclaim though. They saved N64 in sports and in mulit-player mahem(Turok2 and 3) as did Rare. What is Nintendo going to do with out Acclaim? I guess EA is ok, but I like Acclaim's style a lot better(I only like Beatle Adventure Racing).
The question remains, is Nintendo hoping for the best and keep the N64 in production until Christmas 2000? I hope they do, I'm not quite ready to give up my trusty 64; but you never know...
