Alyson Lee Hannigan was born on March 24, 1974 in Washington, D.C. and moved to Atlanta, GA soon after. Alyson began her career modeling in baby pictures for her photographer parents when they had their backyard photo shoots.
She started her acting career at age 4, working in commercials for Six Flags, Oreo Cookies, and McDonalds. Aly's parents saw the talent that sparked in their daughter, and they decided to pursue her calling.
When she was 11, her family moved to Los Angeles to begin her profession. In 1988, at the age of 14, Aly had her big break starring as Jessie Mills in My Stepmother is an Alien.
She then took on many appearances in television shows, including Roseanne, Touched by an Angel, The Torkelsons, Picket Fences, and Free Spirit. In 1996, Alyson, after beating out tough competition with a woman from New Zealand, was cast as Willow Rosenburg, Buffy's computer smart, straight A sidekick. Since then, Aly has starred in two movies: Dead Man on Campus and American Pie (excluding her made for TV movies)
She also has a tattoo of a tribal dolphin on her ankle and another tattoo on her lower back of a Japanese Kanji for luck and happiness.
