She was born in Jersey County, June 12, 1892, the daughter of William & Ellen (Chance) Decker. Survivors are 1 grandson, Ronald Heraty, N Palm Beach, Florida; 2 Granddaughters, Carol Yocom of Jerseyville and Linda Winders of Mesa, AZ; and 7 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, who died in 1958; 1 son, William Heraty and 1 grandson, William Heraty. Memorials may be given to one's choice.
Pearl Devening Died 06-06-1968. Pearl Devening, 61 years, 8 months, 6 days, a farmer of the Fieldon area, was found died at his home by a neighbor on June 6. Mr Devening's wife is a patient at Green Lawn Nursing Home in Jerseyville and he had been living alone. Visitation and services were from Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Leonard Todd, former pastor of Christ United Church of Christ in Fieldon, officiated and burial was in Gunterman cemetery in Richwood Township. Mr Devening was a son of the late George & Lena (Weisner) Devening, and was born in Jersey County September 30, 1906. Surviving are his wife, 1 son, sgt Charles J. Devening of Fayetteville, NC; 2 daughters, Mrs. Henry Goeman of Fieldon and Mrs. Paul W. Long, of Route 4, Jerseyville, and 10 grandchildren.
Agnes Bernice Devening Died 25-06-1974. Agnes Bernice Devening, 66, of Fieldon died June 22, at St. John's Mercy Hospital. Born May 4, 1908 in Bluffdale she was the daughter of Nicholas & Gertrude (Combes) Goshorn. Her husband Pearl Devening died in 1968. Visitation and funeral were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Leonard Todd officiated. Burial was in Gunterman cemetery. Survivors are 1 son, Charles Devening of Tacoma, Washington; 2 daughters, Mrs. Henry (Lena) Goeman of Fieldon and Mrs. Terry (Joan) Irvin of Centralia; 12 grandchilddren; 8 g-grandchildren and 1 brother William Goshorn of Summerville, SC. Her parents, husband, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters preceded her in death.
Edwin "E. T." Devening Died 23-10-1983. Edwin "E. T." Devening, 75, died October 23, at Christian hospital ne in St. Louis. Visitation and services were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev Robert Broeder officiated and burial was in Gunterman cemetery. Born September 14, 1908 in Hardin, he was a son of the late Lee & Catherine (Hamilton) Devening and was a farmer and trustee of Gunterman cemetery. His survivors include 1 son, Guy Devening of Fieldon; 3 daughters, Marie Jackson, Medora, Katherine Wessel, Fieldon; and 2 sisters, Hazel Devening and Margaret Hagen, both of Fieldon; 13 grandchildren. His wife, Minnie Hagen, died November 15, 1982. Masonic services were conducted by Fieldon Lodge. Memorials may be given to Gunterman cemetery.
Mrs. Hazel Dunham Hazel Dunham, 89, died at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home. Born July 3, 1912, in Fieldon, she was the daughter of Lee and Kate (Hamilton) Devening, now deceased. She married Edward Dunham Oct. 12, 1932. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1984. She was employed at the Jerseyville Shoe Factory and was a member of the Fieldon United Church of Christ. Surviving are five children and their spouses, Joseph and Bernita Dunham of Fieldon, Ralph and Yonnie Dunham of Jerseyville, Faye Lavey of Fieldon, Jerry Burch of Nutwood and Steve and Deborah Haag of Jerseyville; 17 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were five brothers, Edwin, Paul, Truman, Phillip and Guy Devening, a sister, Margaret Hagen, a brother-in-law, Don Lavey, and a sister-in-law, Mae Burch. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, 712 West County Road. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Fieldon United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Donald Burkhalter officiating. Burial will follow at Fieldon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Fieldon United Church of Christ.

Lester Barney Dunham, 52 years, 7 months, and 4 days, of Rural Route Fieldon, died November 29, at Jersey Community hospital where he had been a patient the past 5 weeks. Mr Dunham, an employee at Laclede Steel, Alton, was born in Greene County, a son of the late Otto & Mary (Freand) Dunham. Frank L. Dunham 05/14/2006-Frank L. Dunham, 72, was pronounced dead unexpectedly at 1:52 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2006, in the emergency room at Boyd Memorial Hospital. Born April 7, 1934, in Greene County, he was the son of Lester B. and Armeda Talley Dunham. He married the former Marjorie J. Hinderhan on July 27, 1954, in Alton. She died Sept. 2, 1999. He was a longtime coyote hunter and fisherman. He attended the Eldred Baptist Church. Before becoming disabled in 1985, he worked for Woodville and Bluffdale Townships and helped farmers. Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary and Donald Gilbert and Jane and Robert Gilbert, all of Carrollton, Susan and Aran Weid of Eldred and Marilyn Hinderhan, at home; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Dale and Denise Hinderhan of Liverpool, Ill., Dennis Dunham of Eldred, Russell and Lynn Dunham of Eldred and Ricky Dunham of Norris, Ill.; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Tom Stierly of McClusky, Ill., and Irene and Ray Anderson of Canton, Ill.; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Judy Dunham of Shipman, Ill., John and Joy Dunham of Jerseyville, Jerry and Brenda Dunham of Delhi and Larry and Barb Dunham of Kane. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Dunham; and a sister, Nina Marshall. Thomas Lee Dunham Thomas Lee Dunham, 56, died at 6:16 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis County. He was born April 7, 1949, in Jersey County to Otis H. and Lola M. (Talley) Dunham. He began his employment with Owens-Illinois Glass Manufacturing before going to work for Amoco Refineries as an operator. He worked for Amoco in Hartford and Independence, Mo., and eventually went to work for Amoco in Yorktown, Va., before retiring in 1999. After his retirement, he went to work for Pere Marquette, where he was employed at the time of his death, and sold real estate for Home of America. He was a member of the Jerseyville Eagles Lodge 2747, Jerseyville Moose Lodge 695 and the American Legion Post 492 in Jerseyville. He served his country during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his parents; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa A. and Francis Snead of Richmond, Va.; Lisa's mother, Elizabeth Dunham of Alton; two grandchildren, Trey and Cole Snead, at home; a special companion, Beverly Cox of Jerseyville; a sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Glenn Cain of Jerseyville; and four brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Lee Dunham of Fieldon, Richard and Ruth Ann Dunham of Kane, Melvin and Joann Dunham of Jerseyville and Carl and Dorothy Dunham of Jerseyville. He was preceded in death by one nephew, Bradley Dunham; and two nieces, Kathy Dunham and Brenda Jo Dunham. Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where the Rev. Ed Haun will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday. Otis Henry Dunham 05/12/2006-Otis Henry Dunham, 90, died at 3:09 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. He was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Greene County to Otto and Mary (Freand) Dunham. Shortly before his 20th birthday, he married the former Lola Mae Talley on Sept. 30, 1935, in Carrollton. They have shared the past 70 years together. As a young man, he was raised in the Fieldon area and had worked at the quarry and in timber. He retired in 1978 as a laborer at Shell Oil Co. after 35 years of service. During his free time, he enjoyed his family, farming south of Jerseyville near Delhi and fox hunting. He was a devout follower of the St. Louis Cardinals. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Glenn Cain of Jerseyville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Lee Dunham of Fieldon, Richard and Ruth Ann Dunham of Kane, Melvine and Joanne Dunham and Carl and Dorothy Dunham, all of Jerseyville; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Russell of Jerseyville and Marjorie Green of Payson, Ariz. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lee Dunham, on June 7, 2005; three grandchildren, Brenda Jo Dunham, in infancy; Kathy Dunham, in 1991, and Bradley Dunham, in 1994; three brothers, Edward, Lester and Robert Dunham; and three sisters, Lillie Mundy, Imogene Burch and Nina Green. Harry Lee Burch 12/21/2001 -- Harry Lee Burch, 99, died at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home. Born Sept. 22, 1902, west of Kane, he was a son of the late Jacob and Rachel Emeline (Dunham) Burch. He married the former Elizabeth Turner March 1, 1924, in Carrollton. They shared nearly 74 years of marriage before her death Feb. 8, 2001. An avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, he was a grain and livestock farmer operating a farm in Linder Township of Greene County for many years with his wife. A resident of Greene County for many years, he was the director of the old Douglass and Bryan Country Schools and was a member of the Kane Baptist Church. They remained on their farm until health concerns necessitated their move to Jerseyville in 1989. Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret and Jack Whitlock of Kane and Ethel Margeson and Mary Darr, both of Jerseyville; eight grandchildren, Kathryn Franklin, William Smith, Sheila Howard, Cheryl Darr, David Darr and Randy Margeson, all of Jerseyville, Cindy Edwards of Medora and Karen Decker of Brighton; 17 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and his last surviving sibling, May Freand of Jerseyville. He was preceded in death by three children, Joyce June Burch, Robert Lee Burch and Gilbert Randall Burch; three sons-in-law, Darrell Smith, Darriel Margeson and Richard Darr; two sisters, Ellen Freand and Fay McAdams; and two brothers, Fred and Ross Burch. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Kane Cemetery. She was born in IL, the daughter of the late Otto & Mary Dunham. On Apr. 19, 1924, in Jerseyville, she married Harlod Burch. He died in 1972. Surviving are 1 daughter, Martha Brown of Kansas City, KS; 1 son, William Burch of Oak Ridge, TN; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 Sisters, Lily Mundy and Ruth Russell, both of Jerseyville and Marjorie Greene of Phoenix, AZ; and 2 brothers, Otis Dunham of Jerseyville and Robert Dunham of Alton. Mrs. Fay McAdams • Homemaker, 4-30-98 - YOSEMITE LAKES PARK – Fay McAdams, a resident here for the past two years, died at home on April 21. She was 91. Services were held Monday at Yosemite Lakes Community Church, where she was a member, followed by burial at Oakhill Cemetery in Oakhurst. Arrangements were under the direction of Jay Chapel of Madera. Mrs. McAdams was born in Kane, Illinois. She had resided in Illinois all of her life until coming to Yosemite Lakes Park. She was the mother of Audrey Ashlock, YLP; Sharon Garbott, Fresno; Helen Welch, Sebring, Florida; Remthem E. McAdams and E. Leroy McAdams, both of Manito, Illinois. Mrs. McAdams was the sister of Harry Burch and May Freand, both of Jerseyville, Illinois. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. A retired carpenter, he was born January 30, 1899 in Fieldon, a son of Nicholas & Gertrude (Coombs) Goshorn. He is survived by his widow, Evelyn (Erwin) Goshorn of Summerville; 1 daughter, Mrs Norman Stimson, and 1 son, William Lewis Goshorn; 5 grandchildren and 6 g-grandchildren. She is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs Myrtle Akres, and Mrs Marie Heiderscheid, both of Jerseyville, and Mrs Agnes Devening of Fieldon; 2 sons, Willaim of Moscow, IA and James of Jerseyville; 1 sister, Mrs Stella Hubert, East St. Louis, and 2 Brother, Pearl Coombs, Mapa, CA; 15 grandchildren and 37 g-grandchildren. Visitation was at Jacoby Brothers funeral home in Jerseyville. Rev Leonard Todd, pastor of Fieldon UCC, will conduct services at the funeral home. Interment was in Fieldon cemetery.

She was born in IL to the late Otto & Mary (Freand) Dunham. She was married to William Chester Green who d. in 1971. Survivors include 1 son, David Green of Carrollton; 1 grandson, Randall Green of Jerseyville; 4 sisters, Lillie Mundy, Imogene Bursh, Ruth Russell, all of Jerseyville and Marjorie Green of Payson, AZ; and 2 brothers, Otis Dunham of Jerseyville and Robert Dunham of Alton. Services were held August 19, 1988, at First Baptist church in Jerseyville. Burial was at Oak Grove cemetery. Memorials may be given to Heart Fund.
Mrs. Lena Biederman Lena Biederman, born 11-05-1854, Calhoun County, Illinois, buried Armstrong cemetery. Lena Biederman, 64, died at her home 6 1/2 miles west of Jerseyville. She was born in Calhoun county May 11, 1854. May 10, 1877 she married August Biedermann. They were parents of 8 children 4 sons & 4 daughters. Those living are Mrs. Henry Hand of Alton, Mrs. Fred Mowen near Kane, Otto of Fieldon, Henry, William and Miss Lucile, living at home. German Luthern church of Fieldon. Leaves 1 brother 6 children, 10 grandchildren. Funeral from home with Rev. F. O. Wilson officiating. Burial in Armstrong cemetery. Researcher note: I have the census records and marriage record of Lena Frank who married August Bidermann on 10 May 1877 in Calhoun County. Miss Lucille Biederman Lucille Biederman, born 23-02-1893, Jersey County, Illinois, died 31-05-1973, buried Oak Grove Cemetery. Lucille Biederman, 80, died at Jersey Community hospital, May 31. Funeral services were held at Jacoby brothers funeral home in Jerseyville. Rev James A. Connett officiated. Interment was in Oak Grove cemetery. She was born Feb. 23, 1893 in Jersey County the daughter of August & Lena (Spiers) Biederman. Only survivors were nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Martha Mae Freand Martha Mae Freand, 94, died at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at Greenwood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville. She was born on April 1, 1911, on the family farm that she still resided on west of Kane. She was the last surviving child of the late Jacob and Rachel Emeline (Dunham) Burch. She grew up in the country and for a short time worked at the International Shoe Factory in Jerseyville. An independent woman, she dedicated herself to the principles of hard work, good ethics and helping others. She found true happiness working with her hands, whether it was in the fields, her garden or knitting afghans for various family members. Surviving are many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Henry Freand; three brothers, Harry, Fred and Ross Burch; and two sisters, Faye McAdams and Ellen Freand. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Father William Hembrow will officiate. Burial will be in Kane Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Kane Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Surviving are her husband; 6 (7??) children, Mrs. Edward (Judy) Hall, Godfrey, Mrs. Victoria Cohill, Leweston, ID, Emery Grivvin and John Thomas Freand Jr., Oakhurst, OK, Eugene E. Freand, of Idaho and Lee Roy and Gregory Lynn Freand; 12 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. William T. Woolsey, Jerseyville and Mrs. Lena Ruth Alvarez, Joliet; 1 brother, William Earl Newman, Jerseyville; and her father Walter Newman, Jerseyville. Her mother, Mrs. Oscar Frazer, preceded her in death.

She was born May 7, 1923, in Jersey County, just west of Kane, to Alonzo Vincent and Clara Margaret (Freand) Keown. She married George Washington Koenig on March 31, 1951, at the Holy Ghost Rectory. He survives. A 1941 graduate of Jersey Township High School, she was a beautician, operating Gen's Beauty Salon out of her home on Northmoor Drive. She retired in 1995 after serving her customers for 26 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing the piano and painting. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary and Tri-County Antique Club and was a Daughter of the American Revolution. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 52 years, are a son and daughter-in-law, George William and Dottie Koenig of Jerseyville; two grandchildren and their spouses, Christina and Norman Fabry of Alsip and Michael and Jennifer Koenig of Jerseyville; and a great-granddaughter, Shelby Ann Koenig. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Florence Oletha Keown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Crawford Funeral Home, Jacoby Chapel, in Jerseyville, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating. Burial will be at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville or to Saint Anthony's Hospice.
Miss Eva B. Keown 11 October 1979: Eva B. Keown, 83, died at 4:45 pm 10 October at Garnet's Chateau where she had resided since march. She was born in Greene county 13 November 1895, a daughter of the late Marion and Elizabeth Burch Keown and was a retired domestic worker. Her only survivors are nieces and nephews. Visitation from 6 to 9 pm Friday at Jacoby Brothers funeral home where the funeral will be conducted at 1:30, 13 October by the Rev. V. Clay Noah, Jr. Cremation will follow the services.
Mrs. Blanche D. Foster Blanche D. Foster, 77, died July 3, 1988, at her residence. She was born in Greene County, daughter of the late Oliver & Pearl (Johnson) Dierking. She married Truman Foster June 27, 1931, in Alton and he survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter, Joan Dixon, Atlanta, GA; 2 grandchildren and 1 sister, Pauline Fry of Jerseyville. 1 brother and 2 sisters preceded her in death. Visitation and services were held from Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. John Wilson conducted services and burial was in Oak Grove cemetery. Memorials may be given to American Heart Association.
Truman A. Foster 01/25/2001 -- Truman A. Foster, 92, died at 4:46 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at his home. Born May 8, 1908, in Jersey County, he was a son of the late Andrew Jud and Mena (Freand) Foster. A U.S. Coast Guard World War II veteran, he owned and operated Foster Auto Sales and Repair for 54 years, retiring in 1984, and was a Studebaker and Nash car dealer from 1939 to 1959 in Jerseyville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, I.O.O.F. No. 53 and American Legion Post No. 492, all in Jerseyville and was a Boy Scouts of America scoutmaster in 1948, the American Red Cross director from 1942 to 1960 and World War II commander of civilian defense. He married the former Blanche Dierking June 27, 1931, in Alton. She died July 3, 1988. Surviving are a daughter, Joan Foster Dixon of Atlanta, and two grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Dixon and Craig Andrew Dixon, both of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry L. Foster, and two sisters, Trulbia White and Helen Pritchard. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.The Rev. Ed Haun will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Jerseyville.
Warren Alfred Foster Warren Alfred Foster, 68, of Jerseyville, died June 8, 1988 at his daughter's residence. He was born March 5, 1920 in Clinton County, to the late Alfred Foster & Mamie Brown. He married Mary Maltimore February 2, 1977 in Jerseyville. He retired on May 31, 1982 after 27 years of service at Laclede Steel as a truck driver. He was a WWII army vet. Surviving are his wife, Mary, Jerseyville; 4 sons, Phillip Dean, Carbondale, Fred and Paul of Alton and Robert of Bunker Hill; 3 daughters, Valerie Foster and Susan Hubbard of Brighton and Margaret Richards of Jerseyville; 2 step daughters, Jody Weller and Marilyn Smith, Jerseyville; 3 step sons, Earl Maltimore, Alton, James Snider, Jerseyville and Kenneth Snider of Roxana; 9 grandchildren; 2 g-grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 2 sisters, Genevieve Orrell, Keye Sport and Irene Isacck, Carlyle. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 step son, Gary Pressley and 1 brother, Robert Foster. Services were held at Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Robert McAdams officiated and graveside rites were held by American Legion and Jerseyville VFW. Burial was in Shipman cemetery. Memorials may be given to heart fund or American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Mary Foster Mary Foster, 65, died June 12, 1992, at Jersey Community hospital. She was formerly employed as a nurse aide at Garnet's Chateau, Jerseyville. Born in Fieldon September 23, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Edward & Josephine (Kraushaar) Maltimore. Her husband Everett Pressley, died May 16, 1974. She later married Warren Foster on February 2, 1977, in Jerseyville and he died June 8 1988. Surviving are 2 daughters, Josephine "Jody" Weller and Marilyn Smith, of Jerseyville; 3 sons, Earl Maltimore, Alton, James Snider, Jerseyville and Kenneth Snider, Roxana; 8 grandchildren; 1 sister, Bonita Sherman, Jerseyville; and 1 brother, Perry Maltimore, Jerseyville. Preceding her in death were 1 son, Gary Pressley; 3 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation was from Jacoby Brothers Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Tim Garrett officiated at services there and burial was in Fieldon cemetery. Memorials may be given to Bible Baptist church, Jerseyville or American Diabetes Assoc.
Everett Leroy Pressley 23 May 1974: Everett Leroy Pressley, 67, of 702 E. prairie st, Jerseyville was found dead at 4:30 pm on 16 May at his clubhouse west of Otterville by Morris Dabbs. A laborer, he was born 28 August 1906 in Calhoun County, a son of George and Clara McDonald Pressley. He is survived by his wife, Mary Maltimore Pressley; two sons, Roy of Alexis and Gary, who is serving in the Navy at Kingsville, Tex., two daughters, Josephine and Marilyn Pressley of Jerseyville; one grandchild; stepsons, Earl Maltimore of Alton, Jim Snider and Kenneth Snider of Jerseyville, and a brother, George, of Jerseyville. Final services were conducted Saturday, 18 May from Jacoby Funeral Home with the Rev. Vale Walkington officiating. Interment was in the Fieldon cemetery.
