It is a time of healing as humanity fearfully looks up at the stars with memories of pain and suffering. The swath of fear and destruction left in the wake of the Zentraedi's genicidal slaughter of mankind has left an open wound. While many of the survivors have finally accepted the marooned Zentraedi and opened their arms to them in peace to teach them ways of life other than war, still hundreds of thousands refuse to forget the past. North America continues to reorder itself and serve as the heart of the new United Earth Government, as well as home of both the Robotech Defense Force and Army of the Southern Cross headquarters. South America remains a hotspot for aliens in a foreign land. Zentraedi continue a struggle of survival, both physically and mentally as they are forced to serve the Imperative. Small cruisers are continually restored by captive human technicians and used as mobile command centers by the rogue Zentraedi of the land.

While the Malconent Uprisings continue in South America, the Army of the Southern Cross continues its ascent as the new world power with a somewhat more than Universal policing power over the Earth. Many regard Field Marshal Leanard with a suspicious eye, like they should have done in ages past when dealing with all of the corrupt political agents of the old United Earth Government. But others praise him as a hero as he continues his campaign to stop the Malconents. At the sametime in the eastern hemisphere, the Eastern Bloc Soviet Independant State (E.B.S.I.S.) continues a despirate fight to stay eye to eye with the RDF and ASC. Though they lack the technology needed to produce modern day weapons comparable to the other world powers, they do posess many other assets. They coninue to build up large armies of Zentraedi and supply them with whatever salvaged weaposn they can. And the markets are filled with high bids put up by the E.B.S.I.S. to purchase any stolen RDF mecha, the Veritech fighters along with their secrets of mechamorphosis in particular.

The RDF however keeps its eyes elsewhere. A huge shadow covered hulk keeps a synchronous orbit around the Earth. It's redish radish shape gives it an organic, almost vegitable presence about it. Within it, the giant SDF-3 rests in the main factory, small engineering pods float to and from its surface as they work dilligently to complete the monolithic construction. Further out in space, a large transport carefully lands at the Lunar spaceport. The new RDF moon base is halfway completed, essential personnel disembark and settle in for their long stay. The Lunar surface is desolate, but the huge domes under construction give it a somewhat more earthly feel to it.

Even farther away from Earth, larger transports continue their treks to and from the new Mars Base site. Foundations are being laid and plans are being drawn up for the new foothold in Earth space. Small warships and a couple of salvaged Zentraedi starships maintain a vigilant watch over the barren red planet, ready to defend it at all costs if need be. And yet, not all of the transport ships stop here either. Some continue farther into the system's outer reaches. An expedition even reaches as distant as Pluto in an effort to retrieve secrets that Dr. Lang believes were lost in the outer fringe when the SDF-1 made it's first and last hyperspace fold. But these few large transports do not go as far as Pluto, but only as far as the massive planet known as Jupiter. Construction is slow, but a hearty base is already rising on Europa. It is intended to be the new base of operations for all Earth space fleet activity. In orbit of this moon, large space platforms are planned to take shape once the base is finished. It is here, also, that several of the salvaged ships from the Zentraedi fleet are kept. Many on patrol duty, and many in mothballs because the lack of Protoculture is too great. These outter fringes of the system are also the haven of the few surviving fragments of the Zentraedi's Main fleet. Their only hope, to raid the human's new bases and attempt to live off of what energy and weapons they can steal. It is the sole duty of the RDF Spacy to deal with these intersellar pirates and protect the lives of the transport and construction crews. These brave Robotech defenders are the only hope Earth has to recover from its harsh wounds and to regain humanity's foothold in space.
