This pattern was developed by Dan Blanton and Bob Edgley to imitate the squid commonly found in the warmer currents of off the coast of Southern California. All species of the Pacific Salmon include squid in their diet, so they are of importance to the fly fisherman for fishing offshore in the salt. The long hackles of this fly imitate the undulating motion of the tentacles. Next week, we'll display a pattern that imitates a species more common the the Puget Sound area.
