This fly was presented in August of 2000 on the Alaska Flyfishers website and attributed to Duffy of Mountain View Sports Center. The Stealth is a good example of what makes a good salmon fly. The colors are proven as good attractors, especially for Silvers and Chum. The fly is heavy enough to get down deep and fished where the salmon are holding. The hook used in this example is a super sharp hook, made to pierce those hard salmon mouths and it is heavy enough in it's own right to get down deeper, that's why the weight is optional. The fly is also very simple to tie. You don't want to waste a lot of time constructing a fly that is successful, only to have it torn up after a couple takes. The simplicity makes it easy to tie several of these flies quickly and have a number of backups in the fly box. Lastly, it is a pattern that can be tied in numerous color combinations for different conditions because the materials come in many colors that are designed especially for salmon. This is one you will want to experiment with.
