Scotty's Notes: The Black Gordon was originated in the 1930's by Clarence Gordon, a well-known guide on the North Umpqua river. It's an easy-to-tie dark pattern that has accounted for many Steelhead throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California. It is quite similar to the Black Prince (designer unknown), which has been a popular pattern on the Umpqua since the late 1800's.
